The Hotel

We've made arrangements for everyone to stay at the Hyatt Regency Suites in downtown Palm Springs. Room rates will be $99 a night and you can book now if you want. Call (760) 322-9000 and say it's for the Polos/Gearhart wedding. If you're renting a car or driving into town it will cost $10 a night to park. If you are flying directly into Palm Springs you can get away with not renting a car. The hotel has a free shuttle to and from the airport. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown so everything will be walking distance. That includes the house where the wedding and reception will be. The hotel has two restaurants and several bars (if you're into that sort of thing). Check out the website to see more.

The Entertainment

We are very excited to announce that Bobby Yang & his Power Trio will be providing the music for the ceremony and reception.

We first saw Bobby and the guys play at a wedding last September. At the time Andrew said, "We have to get these guys to play our wedding". Bobbi responded, "How about you propose sometime soon, jerk".

Anyway, the band will be playing plenty of songs you know and love except with a little twist. There's no singer, just Bobby leading the way with his violin. You can expect some classic rock, current tunes, and even a little hair metal and early '90's hip hop by request of the bride and groom.

Check out his www.bobbyyang.com and there are plenty of videos on You Tube to hear some of their music for yourself.

There will be D.J. as well to fill in the gaps and join the band for some "remixes".

One Year To Go

It has been pretty slow on this blog so far, but that's about to change. With just a year left to go things are picking up speed. We took our engagement pictures and the save the date cards should be going out in the next month. This weekend we'll be in Palm Springs to see what to expect from the weather. We're finalizing a few things we're very excited about, and we'll be posting on here a lot more frequently from here on out. Some big news is coming. Just 365 days to go.

Things To Do While you're There

We know a lot of people are planning on coming in early for the wedding. We'll get some things planned once the date gets closer. In the meantime, here's a link to a site that has restaurants, golf courses and other things to do. But for most of Andrew's friends let's not kid ourselves. Here's a direct link to the casinos.

How to Get There

There hasn't been a whole lot of activity since we're so far away from the wedding date. But we did want to answer one question some people have had for us. What's the best way to get to Palm Springs? Palm Springs has its own airport. Anyone flying from the east coast probably won't find any direct flights there, but it's probably the best option.

Another option is to fly into L.A. and drive down to Palm Springs. It's about a two-hour drive from LAX. Burbank & Ontario airports are also options.

And for anyone looking to be real adventurous there's Las Vegas. It's about a four and a half hour drive through the Mojave National Preserve. But anyone who's seen "The Hangover" might want to steer clear from that option if you want to make it to the wedding on time, and with your dignity intact.

The Place

After a weekend of running around Palm Springs we found the perfect spot. The O'Donnell House will be the site of the ceremony and reception on Sunday October 2nd, 2011. Guests will be whisked up the mountain in luxurious golf carts (if they make it into the budget, if not bring your hiking boots) to the ceremony which will be held in the yard seen in the photo. Afterwards the reception will be in a large courtyard in the front of the house where everyone can watch the sun set on Palm Springs. Guests will also have access to the first floor of the house during the entire evening. But not the second floor, because Bobbi will have all of that to get ready (Andrew gets one stinking room). Check out the link to find out more about the house, and we'll get more details to everyone as soon as we can.

Getting Started

Hey, everyone. We started this blog because it's a good way to keep everyone up to date on everything leading up to the big day. We hope you check in occasionally to find out everything you'll need to know if you're planning on coming to the wedding. We'll do our best to let you know when something new is posted. We got engaged on February 13th up on the cliff you see above in Pacifica, CA. As far as the wedding goes right now we don't know when (except a rough guess of September or early October 2011), where, or how. But we do know what and who, so it should be fun.
